With improvements in medical care, we now celebrate a life expectancy of nearly 60 years for individuals with Down syndrome.  With improved survival, healthcare providers need to learn how to address common chronic health concerns in adults with Down syndrome, such as obesity, diabetes, and cardiovascular disease.
